Managing expectations of Generation Z

Currently, over 30% of the world's population is made up of Gen Z, or those born between the mid- to late-1990s and early 2010s. They are the first generation to have grown up with social media, mobile devices, and the internet as part of their daily lives; they are referred to as "digital natives." Their social consciousness and willingness to express their thoughts have made them a genuinely global and opinionated generation.

Features of the Z Generation

Though these vary based on cultural and economic situations, there are a number of common features that can be linked to Generation Z. According to Generation Z, they are:

 Autumn courageous, hyper connected, rebellious, bold

Both as consumers and as employees, these characteristics may affect how they behave. As the Refresh generation grew up in a digitally connected environment, they are in fact the generation that comes after the millennials, or generation Y. With the help of this feature, they can interact with digital tools and social networks more easily, which they can utilise as effective strategic platforms.

For Digital Natives, traditional media is insufficient these days. To make wise decisions, they are adept at efficiently obtaining and evaluating data. Within the professional environment, their input can stimulate creativity and spark.

Customers' opinions can be used to pinpoint issues and inform the creation of improved goods and/or services. Gen Zers are a great addition to any company because of their excellent attention to detail.

Furthermore, Gen Z is increasingly engaged in the modern environment. As they never stop searching for purpose, they protest against injustices and the current state of the economy, society, and environment.

Employers can become more engaged and productive by taking the time to understand and address the motivations of Generation Z. Managers can provide a stimulating and rewarding work environment for their Generation Z employees by implementing these elements into the workplace culture and environment.

Generation Z's distinct traits and viewpoints are changing the face of the contemporary workplace. An environment that maximizes Generation Z's potential, fosters engagement, and develops a thriving workforce can be created by understanding what drives them in the workplace. We have examined the main elements that drive Generation Z in the workplace throughout this blog. Their strong desire for meaningful work that is in line with their values and has a bigger impact on society has been made evident to us. We have witnessed their insatiable desire for lifelong learning and growth as they look for chances to advance their careers and develop their skills.

Managers have a significant role to play in assisting Gen Z workers in settling in at work. Here are some strategies for managers to help and mentor Gen Z workers.
